Cardinal Power of Canada LP
Project Scope
Laframboise Group (LG) has performed all the maintenance of the 110 MW Siemens-Westinghouse 501 D5 Gas Turbine and a 50 MW Condensing Steam Turbine installed at the 150MW Cardinal Co-Gen Facility in Cardinal, Ontario since the year 2000. This began with a major rebuild in 2000, followed by two other majors in 2006 and 2015 that included either a combustion inspection and/or a hot gas inspection other years as required by the overall maintenance schedule. The latest major also included several projects required to convert the facility to a cycling mode of operation that included installation of several heat exchangers, an extraction skid, a stack damper and approximately 3000 ft. of steam and condensate pipe. All of these rebuilds and inspections were completed in record time and without incident, in fact during this time frame, Cardinal Power’s 501 D5 Gas Engine became the most reliable and available of all similar engines in Siemens-Westinghouse fleet. This essential maintenance work was achieved by intricate pre-shutdown planning and collaboration efforts with the Siemens/Cardinal Power/LGL team.
